Subject: Ten Weeks
It's been a while since I've written an update about little Anna, but I haven't stopped taking pictures. I hope you won't mind the deluge,
as it has been far too long since my last update.
Anna has obviously changed so much over the past month. We have learned that she REALLY enjoys the water - she's happiest when she takes a
bath and sometimes the only way we can calm her down is to put her near a running faucet. Anna is also smiling a whole lot. Although she
hasn't gotten to the point of laughing, her smiles are a wonderful interaction with us. Speaking of interaction, she is beginning to realize the
outside world. We are now able to let sit in her bouncy seat for several minutes
at a time - she just looks around, taking it all in.
When we went to the doctor for her check-up, we were told that Anna is growing at twice the rate of an average baby - two ounces a day. By
now she is over 14 pounds and wearing some 6-12 month clothes. I'm sure the pictures will show that little Anna is a very healthy baby.
Unfortunately, in all this growing, she has decided that she will
have nothing to do with bottles. Mom has been trying to give her a bottle so that Anna's parents can have a night to themselves - no such luck
yet, but Mom is not giving up.
Dad is constantly learning more about the parenting lifestyle. I am so excited when I'm able to make her smile and to comfort her. Anna has
realized that Mom is her primary care-giver, so Mom is pretty much the only one that can console her. When she's in a good mood, however,
it is such a blessing to hold her and watch her smile. There are trying times as well, however. Anna's latest tradition is to let loose with
incredibly
sorrowful wailing when her bath is over. Last night I held her and wished with all my being that my love for her would somehow comfort her, but
she just kept crying. I've had my first peek into the difficult side of parenting - that sometimes loving your child isn't enough to make
them feel better.
I will attempt to make future updates more frequent, in the future, please forgive my shortcomings if you look forward to them.
